Why Use an In-Wall Speaker Enclosure
An in-wall speaker enclosure, also referred to as an in-wall speaker box, is a sealed, damped back-box that mounts behind your speaker inside the wall cavity. Without one, the driver fires into an open space filled with studs, insulation, and shared drywall, which smears the sound and lets it bleed into the next room.
A dedicated speaker enclosure gives the driver a defined acoustic chamber, so what you hear is the audio the speaker was engineered to produce.
Cleaner Audio, Less Room Bleed
A sealed in-wall speaker enclosure does two jobs at once. It contains the rear energy of the driver, which tightens output and removes the hollow sound of an open wall cavity. It also damps the panel movement that carries noise into adjacent rooms. You get cleaner sound in the room you’re listening in and less of it escaping to the rooms you’re not.

Fit, Seal, and Mount
Installing an in-wall speaker enclosure takes three steps:
- Fit the enclosure between the studs.
- Seal it to the surrounding surface.
- Mount your speaker to the front.
The sealed connection is what contains the sound and blocks room-to-room transfer, so close any gaps before mounting the speaker.
