How Vehicle-Specific Sound-Deadening Kits Are Made
Each kit starts with the shape of your vehicle’s panels. The floor pan, transmission tunnel, inner door skins, trunk floor, and wheel wells are templated to create pieces that fit within the panel edges and leave factory openings and mounting points accessible.
Made-to-fit sound deadening gives you a clear starting point, but rolling each piece firmly onto clean, bare metal creates the bond that makes it work. As the panel vibrates, the butyl layer deforms and converts some of that energy into a small amount of heat, reducing the resonance you hear inside the cabin. Lifted edges and air pockets weaken that contact.
You can get the same result by cutting your own pieces from bulk sheets. It takes a template, a blade, and patience. Precut kits handle the measuring and cutting for you. Less installation time. Less material waste. Every kit uses Dynamat Xtreme made in the USA.
Sound-Deadening Kits by Vehicle
Find sound-deadening kits by vehicle, with collections organized by model and year range. The lineup includes American classics such as Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, Chevelle and other GM A-body cars, Corvette, Tri-Five Chevy, and Mopar A-, B-, and E-body models. Modern options include Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, and Dodge Challenger.
Trucks are covered, too. The truck collection has a sound-deadening kit for truck floors and four-door cabs on the 2021+ Ford F-150.
Check the model years and body style listed on each kit before you order. Kits often span several years, such as the 1968-1972 Chevelle/Malibu range, so match your vehicle to the product listing.
Dynamat is continuously developing new kits for more vehicles. So check back often.
Coverage by Area
Most builds get treated one area at a time, and the kits are split the same way. Pick the sound-deadening kit for car doors, floors, or the trunk based on the noise you want gone.
Car Door Sound-Deadening Kit
Vibration in the door panels adds rattles and resonance that compete with your speakers. A car door sound-deadening kit treats the metal panels to address that vibration, so you hear more of your music and less of the door.
Start with car door sound deadening if audio quality is your main complaint. For wind noise, check the seals and alignment first.
Car Floor Sound-Deadening Kit
Road, tire, and drivetrain vibration travels through the floor pan and transmission tunnel. A car floor sound-deadening kit treats these panels to kill the resonance that adds to cabin noise at highway speed.
Check each car floor sound-deadening kit for coverage details. Under-rear-seat treatment is sold separately for some vehicles.
Trunk Sound-Deadening Kit
The trunk and rear wheel wells amplify vibration from the road or a subwoofer. A trunk sound-deadening kit damps those panels, reducing the booming resonance behind the rear seats. Check the trunk and cargo kits for the areas covered, as trunk lids and package trays can have their own kits.
Some platforms also have roof kits. The firewall and engine bay take bulk material rather than a precut kit, so plan that area after the doors and floor.
Installing a Dynamat Custom-Cut Kit
Every Dynamat custom-cut kit is peel and stick. Once you’ve removed the trim to access the panels:
- Clean and degrease the metal, then let it dry completely.
- Test-fit each piece before peeling off the release liner.
- Position the piece on its matching panel.
- Roll it firmly onto the metal, working out air pockets for full adhesive contact.
A roller helps you get a firm, even bond. Find one in the tapes and tools collection, along with DynaTape for covering seams and exposed foil edges. For your first install, watch these Dynamat installation videos to see the process in action.
Found a precut kit? Confirm the model years, body style, and coverage before ordering. Kits are cut to order and are final sale.
